The studio works in product design for leading brands, but not exclusively, its activity is wide-ranging and spans multiple sectors, including publishing. In 2018 it won the Compasso d’Oro ADI with the Eclipse tapware family in the Aboutwater Boffi Fantini collection, although its career has been recognized many times with awards from various fields of design. Alongside its extensive production, the studio is also involved in cultural projects centered on design, which have been featured in numerous editorial publications.
For Studiocharlie, designing is an attitude that transcends the specific field to which it is applied. One can draw on paper using lines and colors, in the same way, one can draw in steel with lasers and folds, or in fabric with yarns and weaves. Central is always the role of the object and its relationship with space, people, and the lived experience of an environment. What has always characterized Studiocharlie’s work is the idea of objects as protagonists of architectural narration, endowed with the undisputed power to convey emotions and to enrich everyday life with a presence that is never absence. The concept of the object is fundamental in this sense, as it assumes a leading role. It is precisely this commitment to that mission that has brought prestige to the designs signed by Studiocharlie. Among the companies it collaborates with are Boffi, Bolzan, Bonacina 1889, De Padova, Fantini, Lanificio Leo, Lema, Made a Mano, Mipa, Nemo, and Salvatori.
One of the first outcomes of their long-standing collaboration with Mipa was the Cubi collection, developed following an in-depth study of volume and its possible two-dimensional representations. More recently, Mipa and Studiocharlie created together Monomateria, Mipa’s first collection of furniture objects in marble chips, presented during Milan Design Week 2023.
Studiocharlie’s many projects and awards highlight the ability of Rigamonti, Scorda, and Turla to reinterpret traditional materials in a contemporary key, underscoring their commitment to creating objects that not only enhance the aesthetics of living spaces, but also embody deep design thinking and artisanal mastery.
