A whale on the Danube

A structure where elements of the past, of the present and of the future coexist.

A structure where elements of the past, of the present and of the future coexist.

Bálna (whale), the large and modern glass structure overlooking the Danube in the center of Budapest, is a space developed on three floors where art is the predominant element.

Music, design, painting and applied arts blend into shops, restaurants and cafes.
On the second floor is the New Budapest Gallery, where it is possible to see the works of local contemporary artists.

The name "Whale" comes from the shape of the main structure, consisting of triangular glass and metal shells. The interiors are made of steel, aluminum and glass, but also bricks and pastel-coloured surfaces as in one of the stairs realized with Mipa marble graniglia tiles.

Tradition once again finds perfect application in an absolutely innovative context.

The continuous contrast of surfaces, colours and lights gives life to a unique evocative atmosphere, thanks also to the proximity of the beautiful river and to the sight of some of the city's main monuments.
