In the heart of Città Studi in Milan, Casa GS is the result of a refined renovation by Kick Office, which masterfully transformed an initially challenging layout into a harmonious, functional, and highly expressive space. In this project, the TEF terrazzo from MIPA’s Seeds collection stands out as one of the most significant material elements, helping to define the visual identity and architectural character of the entire apartment.
The focal point of the project is the entrance corridor, once dark and underwhelming, now reimagined as a striking architectural promenade. The addition of a barrel-vaulted ceiling enhances the depth of the space and draws the eye toward the living area, while the TEF terrazzo flooring by MIPA guides the path with its organic texture and warm, natural tones, perfectly complementing the large terracotta-colored custom-built wardrobe that runs along the wall.
This wardrobe, a central architectural element, serves not only as the apartment’s backbone but also conceals strategic functions such as an integrated workstation and the discreet entrance to the guest bathroom.
Casa GS preserves the legacy of the original building through the careful recovery of existing materials, such as the parquet flooring in the living area and the original patterned cement tiles in the bedroom. These elements engage in dialogue with contemporary furnishings, custom design solutions, and precise architectural detailing, creating an atmosphere where past and present blend seamlessly.
In this balance between memory and modernity, MIPA’s TEF terrazzo plays a crucial role, not only as a visually striking and technically reliable solution but also as a visual and tactile thread that unifies and elevates the entire design narrative.
