In the heart of Bari, the boutique hotel Almica24 Rooms, recently renovated by architect Valentina Longo, has been reimagined through the use of four different MIPA terrazzo decors, each carefully selected to bring character and uniqueness to the hotel’s four themed rooms. This project skillfully combines design, colour, and material continuity, giving hospitality a distinctive tone of elegance and personality.
The Grecale room, inspired by sea tones and enriched by a private balcony, welcomes guests with a custom-made terrazzo headboard by MIPA in the Trinidad decor from the Cuba collection. Here, terrazzo is used in an entirely new way, not as a traditional flooring material, but as a decorative vertical surface that becomes a true design centrepiece. The marine motif and modern furnishings create a fresh, refined atmosphere.
In the Scirocco room, defined by its essential style and warm, earthy tones, terrazzo once again plays a leading role in an unconventional form: the bed headboard, this time in the Traverso L design. Part of the Optical Trips collection, Traverso L defines the space with elegance and a bold graphic quality, proving how terrazzo can express its aesthetic potential even in vertical elements with strong visual impact.
In the Levante suite, a multifunctional, contemporary space with hammam, kitchenette, sofa, and balcony, terrazzo is interpreted in yet another original way. The Loiza decor, from the Puerto Rico collection, is used in two key areas: as a central “rug” that enhances the space, and to clad a niche on the wall next to the bed. The result is an interior architecture rich in visual nuances, where material choices deeply define the spatial experience.
Valentina Longo’s design approach has turned Almica24 Rooms into a small thematic gallery, where each suite tells its own visual story. MIPA terrazzo, creatively applied to headboards, walls, niches, and inlaid rugs, becomes both a narrative element and a distinguishing feature of the project.
